Food For Thought October 2024

Directly from Our Director's Desk:

We need your help! Meals on Wheels Erie is growing - and so is the need for compassionate volunteers to deliver meals and groceries to homebound seniors in our community.

By giving just a couple of hours a week (or as your schedule allows as a substitute driver), you can provide so much more than a meal—you’ll be offering a lifeline of support, connection, and independence to seniors who rely on these deliveries.

It’s a small commitment with a big impact, both for our seniors and for you! Volunteers often share how rewarding it feels to brighten someone's day with a visit and a freshly made meal or groceries, knowing they’ve made a difference.

The need is pressing as we plan for the winter season and we hope you’ll consider joining our dedicated team. Every delivery helps ensure our seniors are well-nourished, cared for, and feel connected to the community.

If you’d like to help or learn more about how you can get involved, please reach out to us today. We’d love to have you on board. Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference!

Cheers!
Jennifer

Senior Fair Season Winds Down

During the busy "Senior Fair Season," Kathleen, Pat, and Jennifer actively engaged with the community, highlighting the benefits of receiving Meals on Wheels' freshly made meals and grocery deliveries.
They spoke with attendees about the program's impact, recruited new volunteers, and distributed fun swag, helping to spread awareness and support for this vital service.

Thank you to: Representatives Bizzarro, Harkins, and Merski, the Erie Zoo, National Church Residences, and Mercy Hilltop Senior Center.

We're looking forward to the Eastside YMCA on November 1st and to seeing everyone again next year!
