Honoring Mothers and Veterans This May

May brings two meaningful occasions - Mother’s Day and Memorial Day - that remind us to honor the women who nurtured us and the veterans who served our country. At Meals on Wheels Erie, we see the importance of both holidays reflected in the lives of those we serve.

Many of our recipients are mothers, grandmothers, or women who spent their lives caring for others. A freshly made meal and a friendly visit around Mother’s Day can mean the world to someone who lives alone and may no longer have family nearby. Memorial Day is a poignant time as well, especially for the veterans we serve - many of whom are now homebound or living on fixed incomes.

We currently have a waiting list for local veterans in need of meal support, and we’re working hard to meet that need. With community support, we can continue to serve those who once served us and ensure no senior or veteran goes hungry or forgotten. Together with Meals on Wheels America, our goal is to #EndTheWait.

This May, we invite you to honor the spirit of both holidays by remembering those who gave—and those who continue to need— with a little extra care.

Warm Regards,
Jennifer

Come thirsty, leave happy, and feel good about it!
Join us for a fun-filled evening at an Erie Ale Works fundraising event
benefiting Meals on Wheels Erie and our Grocery Delivery Program.

Why? Because Meals on Wheels isn’t just about delivering food—it’s about delivering comfort, dignity, and a lifeline to seniors, homebound neighbors, and veterans.

Every dollar raised at this event helps us reach more doorsteps, fill more plates, and cover delivery service fees —especially for those who need us most.

So while you're enjoying the fun, know that you're also fueling something truly meaningful. Let’s keep those wheels turning and the groceries coming!

Date: Thursday, May 15th
Time: 5-8pm
Location: Erie Ale Works: 416 W. 12th Street

Featuring: Delicious food from E Dogg's Hot Dogs & beers from Erie Ale Works

America's Seniors Are On Hold...
This Older Americans Month, we're calling on everybody to protect our vulnerable seniors.

We’ve all experienced being put on hold. The annoying music, the automated message — it’s excruciating. And right now, America’s seniors are on hold, waiting for nutritious meals and moments of connection. This wait is especially ridiculous because a proven solution already exists. Meals on Wheels remains the most effective and financially responsible solution to address senior hunger and isolation. Answer the call and help us End The Wait.
